A large-scale free eye camp organized at THQ Hospital, Malakwal, in Tehsil Malakwal, District Mandi Bahauddin, provided essential eye care services to hundreds of patients, reflecting a significant humanitarian effort in the region.
According to the progress update, a total of 756 patients were examined in the Outpatient Department (OPD), including 454 (women) and 302 (men). The camp also successfully conducted 51 eye surgeries, almost equally distributed between female (26) and male (25) patients. One case of aphakia was also reported.
The surgical procedures were carried out under the supervision of renowned ophthalmic surgeon Dr. Felix Gill, ensuring quality care and professional excellence.
In addition to eye treatments, the camp facilitated essential screening tests. A total of 62 patients were tested for Hepatitis C (HCV), Hepatitis B (HBsAg), and HIV. Among them, 2 cases tested positive for HCV, while no cases of Hepatitis B or HIV were detected. Furthermore, 11 diabetic patients were identified during the screening process.
To support vision correction, 269 patients were provided with free spectacles, significantly improving their quality of life.
The initiative highlights the continued efforts of Al Mustafa-Pakistan in delivering accessible healthcare services to underserved communities.
