BAHAWALNAGAR: Al Mustafa Welfare Trust organised a two-day free eye camp in Village 38 Fateh, Tehsil Chishtian, District Bahawalnagar, Punjab, on October 7 and 8, providing essential eye care services to local residents.
During the camp, medical teams performed 295 eye surgeries, including 136 female and 159 male patients. A total of 1,720 patients, comprising 970 women and 750 men, received consultations and treatment through the outpatient department (OPD).
The camp also provided vision screening and diagnostic services. A total of 460 patients received spectacles to improve their eyesight, while 130 patients underwent refraction tests to assess their vision and determine the need for corrective lenses.
As part of its preventive healthcare programme, the medical team conducted 332 tests each for Hepatitis C (HCV), Hepatitis B (HBsAg) and HIV. The screening identified 17 patients who tested positive for Hepatitis C and two who tested positive for Hepatitis B. No HIV-positive cases were detected among those screened.
The medical team also identified 65 diabetic patients during the camp, highlighting the importance of screening and early diagnosis in preventing complications that can threaten eyesight.
Through its free eye camps, Al Mustafa Welfare Trust continues to extend eye care services to underserved communities, helping people access essential medical treatment, restore their vision and improve their quality of life.
The initiative reflects the Trust’s commitment to making eye care more accessible, particularly for people in rural and underserved areas who may face financial and geographical barriers to specialised medical services.
