High Commissioner Tipu Usman inaugurated paintings exhibition titled “Legacy Beyond Time” celebrating Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s life, vision and enduring legacy. The exhibition was organised by Mont Rose Foundation, in collaboration with Pakistan High Commission at the historic National Liberal Club London, of which Mr. Jinnah remained a member. The exhibition displayed paintings of Quaid-e-Azam, created with watercolours, by artist Amera Rashid. The exhibition was attended by many Mr. Jinnah’s admirers, both British and Pakistanis.
In his key-note remarks, the High Commissioner stated that Jinnah firmly believed in the rule of law, reasoned argument, dialogue and political negotiation despite differences with opponents. Tipu Usman said that Jinnah’s legacy was not only about remembering the struggle that led to the creation of Pakistan, but it was equally about understanding the principles and values that guided that struggle. The High Commissioner appreciated the efforts of Mr. Bilal Sheikh, CEO of Mont Rose Foundation for organizing the exhibition and for commissioning a portrait of Quaid-e-Azam that is permanently placed in the National Liberal Club.
Other speakers paid tributes to Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s legal acumen, democratic principles and the struggle that culminated in independence of Pakistan. The exhibition “Legacy beyond Time” is part of series of events being organized in collaboration with Pakistan High Commission, London to commemorate 150th Anniversary of the birth of Quaid-e-Azam being celebrated this year.
