The Labour Party’s Greater Manchester mayoral candidate, Bev Craig, has started “Bev’s Battle Bus” in Greater Manchester as part of her by-election campaign. The large bus was decorated with party slogans and was full of party members. In this connection, she visited the British Muslim Heritage Centre (BMHC) with Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Labour Party Leader Lucy Powell MP. The event was attended by MP Afzal Khan, Councillor Ahmed Ali, Councillor Naeem Hassan, Councillor Muqaddasah Bano, former Councillor Rabnawaz Akbar, Mahboob Elahi Butt, Labour Party members, supporters, and local residents.
Addressing the gathering, Lucy Powell MP said the Labour Party had entered a new chapter with a new leader and was focused on delivering for people on issues that matter most. She thanked Labour members and volunteers for their continued support and urged them to campaign actively ahead of the important Greater Manchester mayoral election. Bev Craig thanked Labour volunteers for their hard work and said the election was about protecting Greater Manchester’s future. She highlighted her priorities, including free bus travel for 11 to 18-year-olds, building council and genuinely affordable homes, creating jobs, investing in high streets, and improving opportunities for local communities. She also praised Greater Manchester’s diversity and called on Labour supporters to continue campaigning until polling day. BMHC Chairman Nasar Mahmood OBE also served drinks and refreshments to all the participants.
