An important meeting of Cornerstone Caritas was held in Hulme Moss Side, Manchester. This meeting was chaired by Project Officer Caitlan, while Pearl, Prevention Officer, and volunteers also attended the meeting.
Addressing the participants, Caitlan explained the core support services, including housing and homelessness advice, free meals including breakfast and lunch, and mental health and addiction programmes. She said that Cornerstone will serve meal services in the summer season as usual between 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. She said that they have alcohol, optician, mental health, and social benefits teams who are delivering excellent services for vulnerable people. In the future, they will also support designing CVs, how to apply for jobs, and finding placements to look for jobs. Caitlan said that “Cornerstone is providing signpost services to facilitate people who need support. We are a day service provider. In the future, we are planning to provide better service and we are establishing a Support Room with new carpet, paint, curtains, and furniture for appointments of people in need.” She also said that they are planning to start culinary training and gym services for volunteers.
Addressing the volunteers, Pearl stressed to follow the health and safety measures during the work. She said that they have zero tolerance policy and will never allow harassment, threats, violence, and abusive language on the premises. They do not allow people to create problems inside because they want to ensure a safe environment for both volunteers and beneficiaries.
