As an intense heatwave continues to sweep across Lahore, bringing scorching temperatures and making daily life increasingly difficult for residents, the Al Mustafa Dastarkhwan initiative has stepped forward to provide much-needed relief through free refreshment stalls offering chilled sweet water to the public.
Situated along busy roads and public thoroughfares, the stalls have become a welcome sight for pedestrians, travellers, labourers, children, and the elderly struggling under the blazing summer sun. Hundreds of people stop throughout the day to quench their thirst and take a brief respite from the extreme weather conditions.
Volunteers serving at the stalls said the initiative aims to support vulnerable communities and provide comfort to those most affected by the heat. Many passers-by expressed gratitude, describing the cold drinks as a blessing during the sweltering temperatures.
