LONDON: Chairman of the Senate Housing Committee, Senator Nasir Butt, has alleged that the proposed transfer of former prime minister Imran Khan to a hospital was part of a wider conspiracy against the PML-N government, which he claimed had been detected in time.
Senator Butt made the remarks while speaking to journalists at a dinner hosted in his honour by London-based businessman Raja Adil Anwar.
He claimed that a major conspiracy was being planned against the PML-N government and said the Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail had also been arrested in connection with the alleged plot. He added that the individuals and lobby allegedly involved would be exposed soon.
Senator Butt said that following the court’s decision, other prisoners had also begun demanding that they be transferred to private hospitals.
He further alleged that Imran Khan’s arrival in the political scene had also been part of a conspiracy and claimed that former ISI chief General Faiz Hameed was involved. According to Senator Butt, Imran Khan had wanted to be transferred to his residence in Bani Gala.
Responding to a question about Sohail Afridi, Senator Butt said that no one had arrested him. He said that if people came on September 27 through democratic and peaceful means, they would not be stopped.
However, he warned that if the intention was to break into a jail, the law would take its course.
