LONDON: Bilal Faruqi, the newly appointed Urdu and Hindi-language spokesperson at the US Embassy in London, met with London-based Pakistani journalists and social media representatives as part of his introductory engagement with the Pakistani media community.
During the meeting, Faruqi exchanged views with journalists and social media persons on a range of issues concerning the United States, Pakistan and the Pakistani diaspora in the United Kingdom.
The participants discussed the evolving role of traditional and social media in communicating information to the public, as well as the importance of maintaining constructive engagement between diplomatic missions and media organisations. Faruqi also highlighted the importance of communication in Urdu and Hindi for reaching wider audiences in the region and among diaspora communities.
The London based journalists and social media persons welcomed the meeting and expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to interact with the new spokesperson. They also shared their views on media engagement and the interests of the Pakistani community in the UK.
