Cholistan, Pakistan: A plantation ceremony was organised at Government Elementary School Chak No. 104 in the Cholistan Desert as part of the “Green and Clean Pakistan” tree-planting campaign of Al Mustafa Welfare Trust Pakistan.
The event brought together hundreds of schoolchildren, who enthusiastically planted saplings on the school premises and pledged to care for them.
The organisers encouraged the students to take personal responsibility for the plants by regularly watering, nurturing and protecting them. The initiative seeks to introduce a culture of environmental responsibility among young people while contributing to a greener and healthier future for communities living in the harsh desert environment.
The participation of the students was described as one of the highlights of the event, with the young participants treating the saplings as their own responsibility and symbolically committing themselves to their protection.
Principal Anwar Aab, along with Rai Ghulam Haider, Shafi Numberdar, Safdar Goheer, Ayub Numberdar, Mumtaz Qureshi, Liaquat Sheikh, Ahmed Din Katwal, Ameer Hamza, Amjad Ali, Ali Haider, Sadaqat Sandhu and Khan Bashir Baloch, were among the local dignitaries attending the ceremony.
The participants appreciated Al Mustafa Welfare Trust’s plantation initiative and its efforts to promote environmental awareness and community participation in the region.
The organisation says its broader plantation campaign aims to contribute to a greener Pakistan by encouraging tree plantation and the long-term care of newly planted saplings.
In an area known for its vast stretches of arid land and extreme temperatures, the initiative carries a particular environmental significance, with trees potentially providing shade, improving the local environment and supporting a more sustainable future for the region.
